President-elect Abelardo De La Espriella named Indalecio Dangond Baquero as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. Several trade associations voiced support for the appointment announced on July 11.
Abelardo De La Espriella announced on his X account that Indalecio Dangond Baquero will assume the post on August 7. The president-elect stated that Dangond knows the countryside and will prioritize property titles, credit and technology for producers.
This appointment brings to 12 the number of confirmed ministers for the incoming government. Dangond will replace Martha Carvajalino and the post has an average tenure of 21.4 months.
The Federación Nacional de Cafeteros, Asocaña, AmCham Colombia, the Federación Nacional de Departamentos, Augura and the Comité Intergremial del Valle del Cauca congratulated the choice. Their leaders praised Dangond’s experience and offered to collaborate on productivity, markets and rural development.
