Augusta University's indoor track and field teams delivered impressive performances at the Camel City Sprints and Distance meets on February 6-7 at JDL Fast Track. The Jaguars secured a first-place finish in the men's 4x400-meter relay and saw sophomore Josalyn Branch post the Peach Belt Conference's fastest 60-meter time this season. Multiple athletes achieved top placements across sprint, distance, and field events against Division I and II competition.
Augusta University traveled to JDL Fast Track for the Camel City Sprints on February 6, where the women's sprint group shone. Sophomore Josalyn Branch ran 7.83 seconds in the 60 meters, the fastest mark in the Peach Belt Conference this season, and followed with 26.07 in the seeded 200 meters. Freshman Madison Mitchell clocked 7.97 in the 60 meters and 26.59 in the 200 meters. In the 400 meters, freshman Ava Adams placed 14th overall with 1:00.80, while freshman Thanna Davis ran 59.40 in the seeded section. Adams also hit 26.30 in the 200 meters, and Davis 26.56. Sophomore Nene Akaose led the field events with a long jump of 5.23 meters.
On the men's side, freshmen Mykel Thompson and Dylan Poole posted sub-50-second times in the 400 meters, with Thompson third at 49.32 and Poole seventh at 49.80. Junior Roberto Barrera finished 17th in the seeded 400 with 50.12. The highlight came in the 4x400-meter relay, where the team of Gabriel Carson, Devin Barolette, Charlie Roberts, and Dorian Chance won first place in 3:18.65. Sophomore Jackson Evans jumped 6.40 meters in the long jump.
The action continued at the Camel City Distance meet on February 7. For the women, junior Grace Gyetko placed 17th in the 800 meters with 2:23.44, and freshman Brie Andrews 18th at 2:23.72. In the 3,000 meters, freshman Gabby Jourdain finished eighth in 10:17.70, and junior Madison Thomas 15th in 10:22.53.
The men saw sophomore Gabriel Best lead the mile in 24th place at 4:18.17, with sophomore Seth Eye at 4:32.87. In the seeded 3,000 meters, senior Avery Jaynes took fifth in 8:17.95, junior Oscar Curry 11th in 8:30.49, and junior Nasrudin Mohamed 12th at 8:31.00. Senior Jordan Robertson placed sixth in the 5,000 meters with 14:43.76.
The Jaguars next compete on February 13-14, splitting between the Tryon Mid Winter Invitational in Mill Spring, North Carolina, and the David Hemery Valentine Invite in Boston, Massachusetts.
