The woman, who had previously dated the man and was under police protection, was found in cardiac arrest and transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The suspect is a convicted ex-offender mandated to wear an electronic ankle monitoring device, which he destroyed shortly after the stabbing. Officers apprehended him in the nearby county of Yangpyeong at 10:08 a.m. Police intend to investigate the man thoroughly and seek an arrest warrant.
