On February 28, 2018, in Addis Ababa, Ato Tilahun Kebde, head of the Debub Ethiopia Regional Administration, spoke at the inauguration of a model second-cycle primary school in Omorate town, Omo Zone. The school was built by the People for People Development Organization and the Ministry of Education. He emphasized that upgrading the levels of primary schools is crucial to prevent job losses in the education sector.

During his speech, Tilahun stated that second-cycle primary schools are being constructed by enhancing their standards. This effort aims to address the unemployment issues arising in the national education field. He highlighted that the government's program to make modern education accessible is producing concrete outcomes.

The education sector requires support and cooperation from all parties to achieve its goals effectively. Berhanu Nega (PhD) from the Ministry of Education noted that initiatives are underway to ensure children receive quality education. The new model schools fulfill basic learning requirements, though additional schools are planned for the future.

To provide equal educational opportunities to all Ethiopians across regions, over 34,000 preschool centers have been established in the past five years. Education serves as the foundation of development, making it essential to deliver quality and accessible learning to children. An Amharic model second-cycle primary school in Keley town, Kore Zone, is set to be inaugurated in the coming days.
