Le Mexique signe un accord mondial modernisé avec l'Union européenne

Le 22 mai 2026, le Mexique et l'Union européenne ont signé l'accord mondial modernisé au Palais national, accompagné d'un accord commercial intérimaire qui entrera en vigueur presque immédiatement.

Le nouvel accord remplace celui en vigueur depuis 2000 et couvre 99 % des échanges de biens sans droits de douane. Il inclut des engagements contraignants en matière de développement durable, de changement climatique et de droits de l'homme.

L'Union européenne a annoncé une enveloppe de 5 milliards d'euros pour soutenir le Plan Mexique dans le cadre de la stratégie Global Gateway. Plus de 45 000 entreprises européennes bénéficieront d'un accès préférentiel au marché mexicain.

Le pacte instaure un tribunal d'investissement permanent doté de juges nommés par les deux parties, de procédures publiques et d'une possibilité d'appel. Ce dispositif remplace l'ancien système d'arbitrage privé.

Le Mexique et l'UE maintiennent des échanges bilatéraux supérieurs à 86 milliards de dollars en 2025, l'UE étant le deuxième plus grand investisseur étranger dans le pays.
