Tekila Restaurant Group to launch Zona 55 in Senatobia

Tekila Restaurant Group is advancing plans for a new Mexican restaurant called Zona 55 in Senatobia, Mississippi. The concept will occupy the former Applebee’s location at 181 Norfleet Drive. Construction appears nearly complete, signaling an imminent opening.

Following the successful debut of Fuego Vivo, Tekila Restaurant Group is developing its latest venture, Zona 55, in Senatobia. The new Mexican eatery is set to take over the storefront at 181 Norfleet Drive, previously home to Applebee’s.

Recent photos indicate significant progress on the project. The exterior looks largely finished, with a dumpster present outside, while the interior remains under construction. However, the group seems close to completion.

Details about Zona 55 are limited at this stage, as the restaurant lacks an online presence. Tekila Restaurant Group has established a reputation for Mexican cuisine through its existing outlets, including Tekila Mexican Steakhouse and Fuego Vivo.

Ricardo Rivera, the group’s controller, emphasized the importance of service in their approach. He stated, “We want to stand out by the service we provide. I can go to an amazing restaurant and have the greatest food in the world, but if I don’t feel comfortable, if I don’t feel welcome, I probably won’t return. For me, service is top priority.”

This expansion reflects the group’s ongoing growth in the hospitality sector around Memphis. No specific opening date has been announced.

A shooting at a restaurant in Mexico City's Zona Rosa on December 21, 2025, left one man dead and another injured, with suspicions that the fatality is Óscar Noé Medina, alias 'El Panu', right-hand man of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán of Los Chapitos. Authorities are investigating without confirming the identity yet, as the incident highlights the growing weakness of the Sinaloa Cartel faction. Two of El Chapo's sons have recently pleaded guilty in the US.

Atlanta's culinary landscape is set to grow with several new restaurant concepts and expansions announced last week. From barbecue to fusion cuisines, these venues promise diverse flavors across the city and beyond. Openings are slated from spring through mid-2026.

In the first two months of 2026, Nashville saw nearly as many new restaurant openings as closures, but a stark divide emerged: most newcomers are backed by out-of-state companies, while three-quarters of the shuttered spots were locally owned. Rising rents and property values are squeezing independent operators, according to industry veterans. This trend highlights challenges for small businesses amid the city's booming food scene.

The list, released on February 11, features 39 diverse eateries selected by USA Today Network journalists.

Lakeland, Florida, continues to expand its dining scene with several new eateries opening in early 2026. From pizza stalls to coffee shops and sports bars, residents have more options for local flavors. This growth builds on a strong foundation of establishments that debuted in 2025.
