The Brown University equestrian team launched its spring season with a strong performance at the University of Rhode Island Show on February 29, 2026. On Saturday, February 29, 2026, the Brown equestrian team opened its spring season at the University of Rhode Island Show in Ashaway, Rhode Island. The Bears faced off against URI, Rhode Island College, Salve Regina, Johnson and Wales, Assumption, Yale, Holy Cross, and Coast Guard.
Brown was awarded the Reserve High Point Team title for their collective efforts. Freshman Micaela Winthrop stood out as the overall High Point Rider, securing wins in the intermediate fences and limit flats events.
Other notable performances included freshman Isabella Cope, who placed fourth in intermediate fences and sixth in limit flats. Junior Mimi Gochman won the open fences and finished fifth in the open flat, while junior Bridget Hickton took fourth in open fences. Freshman Elle Graham earned second place in the intermediate flat.
Senior Lauren Zhou claimed victory in the novice event, and sophomore Emmanuelle Bal won the introductory. Junior Diqiu Liu placed second in the introductory.
This competition marks the start of Brown's spring schedule. The team will take a weekend off before competing at Johnson and Wales on March 13 and March 14, 2026.
The event highlights the competitive nature of collegiate equestrian, where riders compete in diverse divisions from introductory to advanced levels.
