ByteSnap Design and Digi International launch managed security service

ByteSnap Design has partnered with Digi International to introduce a Premium Software Security Service for embedded Linux devices. The service aims to help manufacturers maintain long-term security amid rising vulnerabilities and regulations. It provides tailored patches and compliance tools to streamline cybersecurity management.

ByteSnap Design, an engineering firm, has teamed up with Digi International to offer a new managed security service targeting embedded Linux devices. Launched on February 18, 2026, the Premium Software Security Service addresses the challenges of keeping connected products secure over their operational lifetimes.

These devices often run unattended for years in remote locations, complicating patching compared to standard IT setups. Manufacturers face increasing vulnerability disclosures and stricter regulations that demand ongoing post-deployment security, rather than one-time compliance.

The partnership leverages Digi International's expertise in vulnerability intelligence and patch delivery, combined with ByteSnap Design's skills in integration and validation. This creates a unified system that delivers tested security patches customized to each device's specific configuration, minimizing irrelevant alerts and operational risks.

The service emphasizes security as a continuous responsibility, from deployment to end of life. It supplies operating system updates based on precise software setups, includes automated documentation and audit trails for regulatory compliance, and offers monthly reports with actionable summaries and patch histories.

Hardware compatibility is broad, supporting Digi platforms as well as custom designs. Graeme Wintle, Director at ByteSnap Design, highlighted the issue of overwhelming alerts: "One of the biggest challenges we see is manufacturers being flooded with vulnerability alerts that don’t actually apply to the devices they have deployed. Teams end up chasing noise, while genuine risks can be missed."

He added, "This service is about cutting through the noise — applying only the patches that matter and making sure they work reliably in real devices, not just on paper."

Available immediately, the service can integrate into Digi-based projects or mixed environments, with ByteSnap providing ongoing support. It seeks to lower the costs and efforts needed to develop in-house security capabilities.
