A new art-oriented café, Loud Brew Café, has opened at 304 Main St in Buffalo, New York. Founded by Angela Espinoza and Chef Dred “Melek,” the venue aims to foster community through music, food, and artistic expression. It serves as a hub for local talents, including members of the rap group Griselda.
Loud Brew Café launched its soft opening in downtown Buffalo, transforming a multi-level space into a venue blending culinary offerings with cultural activities. The founders, business consultant Angela Espinoza and Chef Dred “Melek”—who works as a barber for the Buffalo rap group Griselda and has ties to artists like Westside Gunn, Benny the Butcher, and Conway the Machine—first conceptualized the café last April.
During a recent visit on a Sunday morning, the café hosted family and friend gatherings with limited menu options, though coffee was available. The overall vision, as described in earlier coverage, positions the café as a gathering spot for artistic talents from diverse backgrounds. Elements include music spanning rap, reggae, R&B, and classic rock; spoken word; graffiti; art; and a focus on family and togetherness.
Chef Dred “Melek” shared his culinary background: “I grew up helping my mom and pop cook. I always wanted to help around the kitchen. Later, I cooked at my buddy’s after hours spot for a couple of years.” The menu features signature items like Rasta Pasta and chicken and waffles on skewers, alongside salads, soups, and sandwiches. The space, encompassing upstairs, first floor, and basement areas, will serve as headquarters for various projects, with this opening marking the first phase.
Currently in a soft opening, the café is experimenting with its menu and emphasizing its role as an art-driven destination. Plans include activations centered on arts and family events. It provides a homebase for Buffalo's music and fashion figures, including Griselda affiliates, and features a small VIP lounge for visiting performers such as rappers and songwriters.
