The No. 2 ranked Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team competed at the NCAA Championships qualifier at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, securing several top finishes to bolster their marks ahead of selections. Key performers included Kate Delia and Cate Christopher in the 800m, and Mackenzie Walker in the pole vault. The meet served as a final tune-up before the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.
WAVERLY, Iowa – The Washington University in St. Louis women's track and field team, ranked No. 2 nationally, participated in the final qualifier meet at Wartburg College on March 7, providing a last chance to improve times and marks before NCAA Championship selections on March 8.
In the mile run, sophomore Sofia Sheldon finished second with a time of 4:55.92, placing her 24th best in Division III this season. Senior Katie Rector took fourth place at 4:57.09, marking the 28th best time in the division.
Junior Maya Davis secured third in the 60m with a time of 7.75 seconds.
The 800m saw first-year Kate Delia win with 2:11.21, the second-best time in Division III, while junior Cate Christopher placed second at 2:12.11, seventh best nationally.
In the pole vault, senior Mackenzie Walker claimed first with a clearance of 3.86m, and first-year Campbell Pallera was second at 3.71m.
Junior Sofia Rosenzweig won the triple jump with 11.61m, ranking 25th in Division III.
These performances position the team strongly as they await qualification announcements for the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 13-14 in Birmingham, Alabama.
