Rains are expected in Western Kenya, the Central Highlands, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and the South-eastern Lowlands. Residents have been warned to watch for potential flooding.

The Kenya Meteorological Department issued a weekend weather advisory on Friday, March 13, stating that rains are expected in various parts of the country. In Western Kenya, the Rift Valley, and the Lake Victoria Basin, counties set to receive rains include Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, and Trans Nzoia. According to the department, these areas will experience heavy rains mainly in the afternoons, accompanied by thunderstorms. The afternoon rains will follow light morning showers and sunny intervals in the mid-morning, with some counties also seeing night rains.

A similar pattern is forecast for the Central Highlands, including Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, and Nairobi. Residents in these counties are advised to prepare for heavy rains from Friday to Saturday, with rainfall expected to decrease slightly afterward.

The South-eastern lowlands, such as Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and inland parts of Tana River County, will see light rains. Additionally, the department warned Central Highlands residents of very cold nights, with temperatures dropping to 9°C and rising slightly to 11°C by the end of the period. North Eastern counties of Wajir, Mandera, Garissa, Isiolo, and Marsabit are predicted to have high daytime temperatures up to 38°C.
