Woman attempts self-harm outside Tamil Nadu Secretariat

A 45-year-old woman sustained injuries after allegedly attempting suicide outside the Chief Minister’s Special Cell at the Tamil Nadu Secretariat on Monday morning while seeking intervention in a land dispute.

The woman, identified as Archana from Avalurpet village in Villupuram district, arrived at the Secretariat around 11 a.m. to submit a petition regarding a long-pending land dispute with another resident of her village near Villupuram.

Police personnel on security duty intervened quickly and rushed her to a hospital. The incident caused brief panic in the complex, leading officials to tighten security and increase screening of visitors.

The Fort Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. Helplines for those in distress include the state health helpline 104, Tele-MANAS 14416, and Sneha’s suicide prevention helpline 044-24640050.
