Malin+Goetz partners with Brain Dead for limited-edition leather capsule

New York-based apothecary Malin+Goetz has teamed up with Brain Dead for a second collaboration, launching a limited-edition 'Leather' capsule collection on March 31. The drop reimagines the brands' signature leather fragrance through scented candles and perfume oil, inspired by frontier nostalgia and interstellar edge. Items feature Brain Dead's graphic packaging and range in price from $42 to $205.

Malin+Goetz, a New York-based apothecary known for skincare and fragrances, has partnered with Brain Dead for their second joint project. This limited-edition 'Leather' capsule collection blends Malin+Goetz's expertise in scents with Brain Dead's subculture-driven aesthetic. The inspiration draws from 'frontier nostalgia' and the 'interstellar edge,' reimagining leather as a timeless yet otherworldly material.

At the core is Malin+Goetz's Leather fragrance, first launched in 2019. The scent profile opens with lotus flower, pepper, and clove, moving to a heart of orchid and green violet, and settling into a base of leather, cedarwood, and sandalwood. It aims to capture the warm, comforting essence of a well-worn jacket, now blended with lotus, orchid, and cedarwood notes to evoke a vintage feel.

The collection includes a supercandle in a bespoke glass vessel with robin's egg blue wax, a standard candle, and perfume oil. These items update the existing leather candle and oil designs while introducing the larger supercandle. Each piece comes in Brain Dead's signature graphic-led packaging, highlighting a shared focus on design and art.

The drop launches on March 31 and will be available exclusively through Malin+Goetz and Brain Dead channels. Pricing is set at $42 USD for the perfume oil, $72 USD for the standard candle, and $205 USD for the supercandle. This collaboration continues to explore innovative fragrance presentations tied to material concepts.
