Earlier this week, Nintendo posted and then quickly removed a screenshot promoting Mario Day events for Mario Kart World, set for March 10, 2026. The image, preserved on Reddit, featured an updated icon for the game's Battle mode that included a Bob-omb alongside the existing balloon and coin symbols for Balloon Battle and Coin Runners.
This has led to speculation that Bob-omb Blast, a mode where players throw exploding Bob-ombs at opponents to score points, could be added in an upcoming update. The mode previously appeared in titles like Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Mario Kart World, a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2 released last year, has faced criticism for its limited Battle mode content compared to predecessors.
