Michael Sweet releases single 'Lord' ahead of solo album

Michael Sweet, frontman of the Christian rock band Stryper, has released his new single "Lord," the second preview from his upcoming solo album The Master Plan. The album, set for release on April 3, 2026, via Frontiers Music Srl, is now available for pre-order. This project marks a shift toward more reflective and worship-focused music in Sweet's solo career.

Michael Sweet, acclaimed singer-songwriter and frontman of the multi-platinum Christian rock band Stryper, released the single "Lord" on February 16, 2026. This track serves as the second preview from his forthcoming solo album, The Master Plan, scheduled for April 3, 2026, through Frontiers Music Srl. The album is currently available for pre-order on digital platforms.

Co-produced by Sweet and Jeff Savage, who has worked with artists such as TobyMac, Jars of Clay, and Natalie Imbruglia, The Master Plan features heartfelt lyrics and strong spiritual themes. Described as Sweet's most personal and spiritually resonant solo project, it blends devotion with fresh musical textures and melodic depth, offering inspiration, peace, faith, and encouragement. The album includes ten tracks, such as "Lord," "Stronger," and "Worship You," and emphasizes moments of prayer, praise, and reflection.

The release of "Lord" follows the January debut of the album's title track, which highlighted acoustic-leaning arrangements and a spiritually centered message. A lyric video for "Lord" is available on YouTube.

Sweet is best known for leading Stryper, renowned for its "heavenly metal" style and global success, with over 10 million albums sold worldwide. The band achieved Billboard Top 40 hits like "Calling on You," "Honestly," and "Always There for You," and was the first to have two songs in MTV's Top 10 simultaneously with "Free" and "Honestly." Beyond Stryper, Sweet has pursued a successful solo career, co-founded the rock project Sweet & Lynch, and served as vocalist and guitarist for Boston from 2007 to 2011.
