Prior to that gathering, Winnie shared a social media post expressing her dissatisfaction with the decision made under Oburu's leadership. “Things are not okay,” she wrote on a banner featuring the party's orange color.
Winnie has been a prominent critic of the party's direction since her father's death in October 2025. In an interview on January 27, 2026, she stated that the leadership transition process was unconstitutional and conducted secretly. She accused a small group of leaders of sidelining members and making decisions without their involvement.
This development highlights internal divisions within ODM amid leadership changes.
