Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka visited the development project for the dock and production facilities of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) in Tuban Regency, East Java, last Friday. He targets accelerating the operationalization of the project, which has reached 99 percent completion, to support efficient cement exports. The project is part of a strategic partnership with Taiheiyo Cement Corporation since 2021.
During his working visit to Tuban on Friday, March 6, 2026, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka emphasized the commitment to accelerate the operationalization of SIG's dock and production facility development project. The project, managed by SIG's subsidiary PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk, has an investment value of Rp1.4 trillion. Gibran was accompanied by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Tuban Regent Aditya Halindra Faridzy, SIG President Director Indrieffouny Indra, and company management.
Gibran expressed his appreciation for the project's progress, which has reached 99 percent completion. He hopes the company will continue to maintain and enhance environmental management standards. "May it soon become operational and support the enhancement of the nation's capabilities on the global stage as well as the sustainable development agenda, not only in Indonesia but also abroad," Gibran stated in his remarks.
The project includes upgrading the Special Terminal capacity from 15,000 Deadweight Ton (DWT) to 50,000 DWT through the construction of a new jetty trestle and jetty platform. Developed production facilities include a blending silo system with 8,000-ton capacity, a clinker silo system of 15,000 tons, and two cement silo systems each with 18,000-ton capacity. For transportation, a 4.1 km tube conveyor, tripper conveyor, and ship loader with 1,000 tons per hour capacity are installed.
The dock is projected to ship 500,000 to 1 million tons of cement to international markets, adopting modern technology for efficient and sustainable export operations. The strategic partnership with Taiheiyo Cement Corporation has been in place since 2021, supporting Indonesia's cement industry competitiveness globally.
