Worcester brewery releases low-alcohol Baby Daddy IPA

Greater Good Imperial Brewing in Worcester has introduced Baby Daddy IPA, a low-alcohol beer with 1.3% ABV. This new offering aims to provide a flavorful experience similar to traditional beers while minimizing alcohol content. The release comes amid changes in the brewery's production setup.

Greater Good Imperial Brewing, based in Worcester, Massachusetts, has launched Baby Daddy IPA, a beer with just 1.3% alcohol by volume. This low-alcohol option represents a departure from the brewery's traditional focus on imperial styles, blending a modified recipe from a 5% ABV pale ale with techniques used in nonalcoholic production to preserve flavor.

The beer delivers hop and malt notes at a reduced intensity, offering a taste closer to full-strength varieties than many nonalcoholic alternatives. Brewer Matt Lederer explained the challenges involved, stating to MassLive that "producing a beer with low alcohol yet good flavor is highly challenging and hinges on careful yeast selection, brewing conditions, and ingredient choices."

This introduction follows Greater Good's decision to shift production of its flagship Pulp Daddy to Harpoon Brewery. The move, made after joining Barrel One Collective, has freed up capacity at the Worcester facility for innovative projects like Baby Daddy IPA. Barrel One Collective emphasizes collaboration among breweries, including partners such as Harpoon and Smuttynose Brewing.

Baby Daddy IPA is available as a limited-time release exclusively at Greater Good's Worcester taproom. The brewery's efforts reflect a growing interest in low-alcohol options within the craft beer industry.
