Rising unemployment has pushed many young Kenyans into illegal sex work, prompting multiple police raids across several counties.
In the past month, police officers raided houses in Kiambu, Nairobi, Kajiado and Nakuru counties and rescued more than 50 women forced to produce porn films.
Four weeks ago, police raided Ngoigwa in Thika and arrested youths aged 18 to 30 along with recording equipment. A few months earlier, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations dismantled another network in Nakuru and arrested a businessman who lured schoolgirls.
On July 21, DCI rescued five women in Mihang’o, Embakasi East. Three days later, another 48 women were freed in Ongata Rongai and Kiserian. DCI Director Mohamed Amin said victims had been tricked with promises of well-paying jobs.
