Superyacht SIMENA departs shipyard for Monaco debut

The 62-metre sailing superyacht SIMENA has left the ARES Yachts shipyard in Antalya and is heading to Monaco for its first Mediterranean season. It is set to arrive at the Yacht Club de Monaco's Explorer Dock on March 22, where it will feature in events including a regatta. SIMENA, certified for environmental standards, is also nominated for the YCM Explorer Awards.

SIMENA, a modern bluewater ketch built by ARES Yachts, represents the shipyard's entry into the 60-metre-plus segment. Constructed with steel-carbon composite to RINA Charter Class C standards, the yacht measures 62 metres and combines performance capabilities with luxury features. The hull design comes from Taka Yacht Design, emphasizing classic ketch lines for both aesthetics and seaworthiness, while interiors by Design Unlimited blend traditional elements with contemporary comforts.

The yacht features traditional teak decks and varnished sipo mahogany details, accommodating up to 12 guests and nine crew members. A forward main deck owner's suite provides a prominent space. Propulsion includes a hybrid system with six operating modes: in electric mode, it achieves silent cruising at up to 8 knots with a range of 6,000 nautical miles at 7 knots; on diesel, it reaches 14 knots top speed and 4,000 nautical miles at 9 knots. During sea trials, SIMENA hit 14 knots under sail, with projections of 16 knots in 20 knots of wind at a 100-degree angle.

SIMENA holds SEA Index certification from Lloyd's Register, a benchmark developed by the Yacht Club de Monaco (YCM) for environmental responsibility in large yachts. This aligns with the partnership between ARES Yachts and YCM on technology and seamanship. Upon arrival in Monaco on March 22, it will berth at the Explorer Dock and participate in the YCM's Day of Exploration programme, staying through March 24 for a friendly regatta and other events.

On March 24, SIMENA is nominated for the 6th YCM Explorer Awards by La Belle Classe Superyachts, which since 2019 recognizes yachts advancing exploration, research, innovation, and sustainability. Ranking among the top 25 largest sailing superyachts worldwide, SIMENA is available for sale exclusively through Northrop and Johnson. It will stay in the South of France until the end of March, with private viewings offered to clients and brokers.
