85-year-old Florida man arrested after alleged highway race

An 85-year-old man was arrested in Florida after police said he raced another driver at high speeds on a highway near Leesburg.

William Bosworth was pulled over while driving a Nissan 350Z on U.S. Highway 27 and County Road 33. A Lake County Sheriff's deputy reported clocking the Nissan at 110 mph in a 45 mph zone while a red Chevrolet Corvette reached 125 mph.

Bosworth denied racing and told the deputy the Corvette driver had swerved at him. "I wanted to get away from him before we caused a problem," he said, according to body camera footage. He added that he was "out having a little ride in my favorite car."

Deputies also stopped the Corvette and arrested its driver, 57-year-old Phillip Signorino, on the same charges. Signorino denied the allegations and said his car was "incapable of going that fast." Both men were booked into the Lake County Jail and later released on bond. Bosworth's next court date is set for July 7 and Signorino's for July 1.
