Five minors aged 11 and 12 have been identified as alleged perpetrators of a sexual assault on a 12-year-old classmate in Burgos. The incident took place in mid-May at a birthday party in a public venue.
The girl's family reported the events weeks later. The National Police identified the five alleged assailants and forwarded the report to the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office.
The minors are not criminally liable as they are under 14 years old. Therefore they cannot face criminal proceedings or penalties of this nature.
After the incident became known the school expelled them for five days. They were later readmitted but separated from the victim to avoid stigmatization.
The girl has physical and emotional aftereffects. So far no request has been made for intervention by the Educational Intervention Unit of the Junta de Castilla y León.
