Authorities in Garzon are investigating the alleged sexual abuse of a 7-year-old girl treated at the Hospital Departamental San Vicente de Paúl.
The girl was first admitted to the hospital on May 1 around 4:46 p.m. with a relative who reported the alleged abuse. Staff immediately activated the care protocol, ordered lab tests and requested evaluations by psychology, psychiatry and social work teams.
The initial process could not be finished because the family left after learning there was no social or psychological service available on the holiday. The girl returned on May 4, the protocol was reactivated and authorities were notified.
She remains hospitalized under the custody of the Policía Judicial de Infancia y Adolescencia. A relative said the child described being touched and approached by four men, including neighbors and her stepfather.
