New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right first rib and placed on the 10-day injured list. The injury is expected to sideline him for at least four to six weeks.
Judge underwent MRI, CT scan and X-rays this week after the pain worsened during the team's series against the Athletics in West Sacramento. He believes the injury originated from an awkward dive in late April against the Houston Astros. The Yankees recalled outfielder Spencer Jones from Triple-A to fill the roster spot. Manager Aaron Boone said the team remains confident it can continue winning without its captain. General manager Brian Cashman said the injury had not been on the team's radar until recently. Judge is expected to be re-imaged in four to six weeks to assess healing.
