Coach Carlo Ancelotti and captain Marquinhos said Brazil is preparing for the match against Japan as a final, calling for respect for the opponent and noting the evolution of world football.
In a press conference on Sunday, 28, Ancelotti confirmed that Neymar has progressed and can play more than 15 minutes, depending on the context of the match scheduled for Monday, 29, at 14h, at NRG Stadium in Houston. The Italian coach avoided revealing the lineup and stressed the need for mind, heart and a clear idea for the knockout clash.
Marquinhos warned against disrespecting the Japanese team, citing Brazil's elimination by Croatia in the 2022 World Cup and PSG's loss to Botafogo in the Club World Cup. “It is not fitting for us to disrespect this Japanese team,” the captain said.
Japanese coach Hajime Moriyasu confirmed the absence of striker Takefusa Kubo due to injury and recalled the 3-2 victory over Brazil in an October 2025 friendly. Ancelotti praised Japan's passing quality and said the Brazilian team prepared as for a final.
