Marquinhos warned against disrespecting the Japanese team, citing Brazil's elimination by Croatia in the 2022 World Cup and PSG's loss to Botafogo in the Club World Cup. “It is not fitting for us to disrespect this Japanese team,” the captain said.
Japanese coach Hajime Moriyasu confirmed the absence of striker Takefusa Kubo due to injury and recalled the 3-2 victory over Brazil in an October 2025 friendly. Ancelotti praised Japan's passing quality and said the Brazilian team prepared as for a final.
