Brazil's National Electric Energy Agency said the yellow tariff flag will remain in place for June. Consumers will pay an extra R$ 1,885 for every 100 kWh used for the second straight month.
The decision was announced on Friday, May 29, 2026, by Aneel. The reason is the dry period in Brazil, which reduces hydroelectric generation and requires the use of more expensive thermal plants.
From January to April, the flag remained green. In May, Aneel activated the yellow flag due to reduced rainfall during the transition to the dry season.
The agency stressed that consumers should avoid waste. The tariff flag system marks ten years in 2025 and reflects the variable costs of energy generation.
