A U.S. Army veteran was arrested in North Carolina after allegedly writing threats to kill President Donald Trump on his car and posting violent messages online. Federal prosecutors have unsealed charges detailing the plot.
Daniel Swain, 41, was stopped by police in North Carolina after an attendant at a car wash noticed threatening messages scrawled on his black BMW X5. The writings included phrases such as “HEADED TO WSH TO KILL THE PRES” and “double tap,” according to a newly unsealed criminal complaint from the Department of Justice. Prosecutors say Swain had traveled from South Carolina with the intent to carry out the attack in Washington, D.C.
