Media report that Aston Villa will sign 20-year-old Johan Manzambi from SC Freiburg. The deal is said to be worth almost 70 million euros including bonuses.
The Swiss attacking player is reportedly set to join Aston Villa rather than Newcastle United. Sky, The Athletic and Fabrizio Romano all reported that all parties have reached an agreement.
Manzambi was unable to agree terms with Newcastle and instead committed to Villa. The fee exceeds the sum previously negotiated with Newcastle.
For Freiburg this would represent the highest income from a player sale. The previous record stood at around 25 million euros for Kevin Schade in 2023.
Manzambi moved from Servette Geneva to Freiburg in January 2023 and impressed at the World Cup with three goals.
