Chelsea have signed England midfielder Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for £117 million on a six-year deal. The 23-year-old reportedly turned down a move to Arsenal to join under new head coach Xabi Alonso.
Aston Villa confirmed the permanent transfer in a statement on social media. The club highlighted Rogers' rapid rise since joining from Middlesbrough in 2024, including his role in lifting the UEFA Europa League last season and earning senior England caps at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Speaking as a Chelsea player for the first time, Rogers said he was excited to join what he called the biggest club in London. He added that the project with the new manager and the squad's direction were key reasons for his decision.
Chelsea's Premier League season is scheduled to begin away to Fulham on August 24.
