Elliot Anderson has joined Manchester City from Nottingham Forest in a £116 million transfer, completing a deal that was first reported during the 2026 World Cup. The 23-year-old England midfielder described City as the kings of Manchester upon completing the deal.
City confirmed the signing on Thursday, making Anderson their fourth summer acquisition. The midfielder previously moved from Newcastle United to Nottingham Forest in 2024 for £35 million and represented England at the World Cup, where the team finished third after strong performances that drew interest from City.
Negotiations had been ongoing since reports in late June, when Forest rejected initial bids before accepting the final offer. Anderson commented on the Manchester derby scheduled for September 13 at Old Trafford. He said City have been the kings of Manchester for as long as he has known the city and praised their winning mentality over the last decade.
Director of football Hugo Viana highlighted Anderson's energy, work rate and passing ability. He noted the player's rapid improvement and said Manchester City offers the best environment for further development.
