Gabriel Oliva, president of Avianca Group, and Ramón Jesurún, president of the Colombian Football Federation, announced Avianca as the official airline for Colombia's national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The airline will provide around 3,000 flights with over 600,000 seats to venues in Mexico, Canada, and the United States.
At a joint event, Oliva explained that Avianca will connect 10 of the 16 tournament venues directly and the other six through commercial partners. "Of the 16 World Cup venues, Avianca connects 10 directly and the other six with the help of commercial partners," Oliva stated.
The airline operates over 160 routes to 80 destinations, supported by a fleet of more than 150 aircraft and 15,000 employees. Two special planes will feature the designation "official airline of the Colombian national teams" and the word "gol" on the windows; one will transport the main team.
Jesurún noted the alliance between Avianca and the Federation has lasted over 12 years, covering all national teams. "All teams from the different Colombian football national teams travel with the airline, in an alliance that has been in place for more than 12 years," he said.
Sports Minister Patricia Duque Cruz attended the announcement and highlighted public-private collaboration to advance national government goals.
