FC Barcelona secured a 2-0 victory at Getafe's Coliseum Alfonso Pérez on Saturday, opening up an 11-point lead at the top of LaLiga after Real Madrid's 1-1 draw with Real Betis. Fermín López and substitute Marcus Rashford scored the goals for Hansi Flick's side, who could clinch a second successive title next week against Osasuna if Madrid drop points against Espanyol.
Without star winger Lamine Yamal, absent with a hamstring injury, Barcelona overcame Getafe's bright start to dominate. Robert Lewandowski had early chances from Pedri crosses before Fermín López opened the scoring in the first half, finishing Pedri's clever pass into the bottom corner and dedicating it to Yamal. Barcelona had not won at the Coliseum since 2019, with the previous four visits ending in draws.
Getafe pushed after the break, but Pau Cubarsí cleared a goal off the line from a Davinchi cross. Flick introduced substitutes including Marcus Rashford, Gavi, Roony Bardghji, Frenkie de Jong, and Ronald Araujo. Rashford doubled the lead on a counter, sprinting 90 meters after a Robert Lewandowski pass for his seventh LaLiga goal.
Getafe remain sixth and in European contention after winning seven of their last 10 games. Barcelona, now on nine straight league wins, control their destiny with 15 points left. Lineups: Barcelona (Joan Garcia GK, with Gavi, Dani Olmo, Roony Bardghji starting in midfield); Getafe (David Soria GK, Mauro Arambarri, Martin Satriano).
