The Beyond the Bridle event was held on 13 June at Unicorn Equestrian Centre in Gloucestershire. Organiser Jess Harkness reported strong interest in alternative approaches to horse riding. The sellout afternoon of demos and evening performance drew positive feedback from attendees.
Equine chiropractor Jess Harkness organised the event to demonstrate bridleless riding as part of a broader focus on horse-human relationships. Presenters included Mia Rodley, Lynn Henry, Jodi Bament, Harkness's 15-year-old daughter Thea and 16-year-old Bella Forster.
Harkness said the goal was to make the approach accessible. "A lot of demos are professionals doing it, and it looks amazing but it almost looks out of reach," she said. The evening show featured an Alice in Wonderland theme with costumes and lights.
Harkness emphasised that bridleless riding is optional and can complement traditional competition. She noted greater openness among younger riders and plans for future events, including a horsemanship masterclass in July.
