Brad Bird, director of the 2007 Pixar film Ratatouille, has declined to pursue a sequel. He made the comments in a recent interview with Collider.
Bird said studio representatives have tested his interest indirectly. “They’ll, like, crack a joke, but the joke will be a little bit serious, like, ‘Would you?’ And I’m like, ‘No, we told that story,’” he stated.
The filmmaker explained that successful projects often prompt calls for follow-ups. He cited The Iron Giant as another example where he sees no further story to tell.
Bird remains open to additional Incredibles films. “I could see another Incredibles film,” he said. The first Incredibles movie debuted in 2004, with a sequel in 2018 and a third installment planned for 2028.
Ratatouille centers on a rat named Remy who dreams of becoming a chef in Paris. Patton Oswalt provided the lead voice.
