Brandon Flowers performed at the Newport Folk Festival on July 26, debuting three tracks from his upcoming solo album Thrasher. He also joined Lucy Dacus and Nathaniel Rateliff for guest appearances during the Rhode Island event.
The Killers frontman opened his set with Crossfire from his 2010 album Flamingo. He then gave first live performances to the recent singles Paradise and Plans, followed by the previously unheard Tiger's Blood.
Flowers revisited tracks from The Desired Effect and delivered stripped-back versions of Killers songs including Read My Mind and When You Were Young. Dawes members Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith joined him for a cover of When My Time Comes.
Earlier in the weekend, Flowers made a surprise appearance with Lucy Dacus on July 24 for a cover of Jim Croce's Time in a Bottle. He later joined Nathaniel Rateliff on stage for covers of Bruce Springsteen's Atlantic City and other songs.
Thrasher is scheduled for release on August 21 via Island Records. Flowers is also planning a North American, UK and Ireland tour later this year.
