Broadway nominees and veterans convened Thursday at the Rainbow Room for the annual Tony Awards nominee luncheon, one week ahead of the ceremony.
The event took place atop Rockefeller Center in New York City. Attendees included first-time nominee Nicholas Christopher of Chess, who remarked on seeing John Lithgow and described the gathering as reminiscent of a high school drama club with nicer clothes. Heather Hitchens, president and CEO of the American Theatre Wing, called the occasion a chance to celebrate the force that Broadway represents amid broader divisions.
