Chinese scholar Zheng Yongnian says that underestimating the United States could prove a fatal mistake despite its relative decline.
Zheng Yongnian, dean of the school of public policy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, said in an interview that the United States remains a hegemony in decline.
He noted a big gap between decline and replacement, citing the dollar's dominance as the primary reserve currency, America's superior military capabilities, and its edge in emerging technologies.
