Colo Colo defeated Ñublense 6-2 at the Estadio Monumental on Sunday, May 17. The win strengthens their position as leaders in the Liga de Primera with a five-point advantage.
The team coached by Fernando Ortiz showed its best form of the year and clearly overpowered the Diablos Rojos. Leandro Hernández opened the scoring in the 14th minute after a goalkeeper error. Joaquín Sosa extended the lead in the 30th minute with a left-footed shot from a corner.
In the second half, Javier Correa scored twice, including a penalty in the 62nd minute. Arturo Vidal struck a superb goal from outside the box in the 57th minute, and Lautaro Pastrán sealed the win with a header in the 76th minute. Ñublense replied through Diego Sanhueza and an own goal by Vidal.
With this result, Colo Colo reaches 27 points and prepares to face Universidad Católica. The match drew around 35,000 spectators at the Estadio Monumental in Santiago.
