Colombian navy activates Plan Acorazado in Caribbean for Holy Week

The Colombian navy deployed Plan Acorazado in the Caribbean to ensure safety during Holy Week, extending until April 5. The operation covers multiple departments with maritime, riverine, and land patrols. Authorities are coordinating with other agencies to protect tourists and locals.

The Colombian navy ramped up operations in the Colombian Caribbean through Plan Acorazado, targeting tourist and religious areas in departments including Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Cesar, Chocó, Córdoba, La Guajira, Magdalena, San Andrés, Santander, and Sucre.

The Caribbean Naval Force activated security measures at sea, rivers, and land routes, with ongoing patrols to prevent incidents. In coordination with the Maritime General Directorate (DIMAR), surveillance was strengthened at beaches and protected zones, providing advice on authorized docks and safety gear for vessels.

Marine Infantry units, alongside the National Police, set up checkpoints on major land routes and conduct road safety education campaigns. Coast Guard, Naval Aviation, and Marine Infantry units are at maximum readiness in strategic points, patrolling main rivers to ensure safe navigation.

Authorities urged reporting emergencies to the Coast Guard's 146 line or Gaula Military's 147, aiming to prevent public order disruptions and support visitors during this high-mobility period.
