The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Detroit Tigers 2-1 in 10 innings on Saturday at Comerica Park. Daulton Varsho delivered the game-winning hit with a line-drive single in the top of the 10th. The victory sets up the Blue Jays to take the series in Sunday’s finale.
Varsho reached base three times and drove in the go-ahead run. Manager John Schneider credited Varsho for providing stability during a stretch when the lineup has struggled overall. “Varsh seems to be that guy,” Schneider said. “When he gets into a groove, he’s pretty tough.”
