Dave Davies of The Kinks has revisited the band's long-standing rivalry with The Beatles, stating that George Harrison was the only member he truly liked. The comments were made at the launch of a new art exhibition in London. Davies later clarified on social media that he remains a fan of the Liverpool group.
The guitarist spoke at the opening of The Kinks: Brothers exhibition at Gibson Garage London. He said John Lennon did not like The Kinks and added that Paul McCartney wrote a few decent songs.
"George Harrison was the only one I really liked. He was the nicest guy," Davies said. He also recalled Lennon being protective of the band's equipment during shared gigs.
After the remarks appeared in reports, Davies posted on X that he likes The Beatles and appreciates kind words from Paul McCartney about The Kinks. The exhibition, created with artist Christian Furr, runs until September 6.
