The Delhi Government has decided to take action against Fortis Hospital in Shalimar Bagh following an inspection that found lapses in patient care. The probe was launched after a complaint about a stabbing victim allegedly denied timely treatment.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ordered the inquiry after receiving a complaint during a public hearing. The family of the youth alleged that the hospital delayed treatment and asked for payment first.
A multi-department team led by Central-North District Magistrate S S Parihar inspected the hospital on Thursday. Officials reported violations of building rules, fire safety issues and lapses in medical protocols.
CCTV footage reviewed during the inspection showed the injured youth entering the emergency department on his own. The team noted that timely intervention could have improved his chances of survival.
The hospital stated it remains committed to patient care standards and will cooperate fully with authorities. A detailed inquiry report is being prepared.
