The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will operate 24 extra train trips every Monday starting May 18, 2026, using six additional trains to meet higher passenger demand.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation announced it will deploy one extra train each on the Red, Yellow, Blue, and Pink Lines, along with two on the Violet Line, for a total of 24 additional trips every Monday. The change begins today and follows a recent call by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for government officials to use public transport on what she termed Metro Mondays.
A senior DMRC official stated that the initiative aims to promote metro use while improving convenience, safety, and accessibility. Staff will monitor crowds throughout the day and adjust services or deploy extra personnel as needed.
The corporation plans to open more ticketing counters, activate additional security equipment, and increase staffing at interchange stations and connections to buses and the Regional Rapid Transit System. Passengers are encouraged to use the Metro Sarthi app and digital payment options already available.
