Johannesburg’s Metrobus will reduce services from Monday because of ongoing budget cuts and higher diesel prices. The changes target off-peak routes and low-demand times. Passengers should review new timetables on the operator’s website or at terminals.
Johannesburg’s Metrobus announced the service reductions on Saturday. The operator cited years of sustained budget shortfalls that have been worsened by rising diesel costs.
Reductions will begin on 1 June 2026. They will include fewer off-peak trips on selected routes and reduced frequency during quiet periods.
Commuters were advised to consult the Metrobus website or visit depots and terminals for updated route and timetable information. A full list of affected routes is expected to follow.
