Police discovered the body of 26-year-old Evelin Enamorado-Cisnado hidden there and arrested her partner, Lhis Brito-Costa, 23, for first-degree murder. Family members say Brito-Costa killed her after learning of another relationship.
On a welfare check prompted by a DoorDash delivery around 4:30 p.m. last Tuesday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police found the body of Evelin Enamorado-Cisnado, 26, wedged behind a door in a closet at an East Charlotte apartment complex. The driver had reported the foul smell and was informed by someone at the residence that a dead woman was hidden inside, covered in towels, according to court documents obtained by WCNC Charlotte, an NBC affiliate, and family statements on Facebook. Officers arrested Lhis Brito-Costa, 23, Enamorado-Cisnado's partner, charging her with first-degree murder. An arrest warrant states that Brito-Costa 'unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did of malice aforethought kill and murder' Enamorado-Cisnado. Family members report she was shot after Brito-Costa discovered her involvement in another relationship. One relative wrote on Facebook: 'It hurts to think how that wretched woman could heartlessly take her life, simply because my niece no longer wanted to be with her.' The relative also credited the discovery to 'a young man delivering an order who noticed a foul smell.' Another family member noted Enamorado-Cisnado was from Honduras, with efforts underway to return her body there. Brito-Costa is held without bond and scheduled to appear in court on April 2.
