Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid met a French diplomatic delegation to explore ways to expand economic ties and attract more French investment.
The meeting took place on 20 June 2026 in Cairo. It included French Ambassador Éric Chevallier, Economic Counsellor Pascal Furth and Antoine Wellenbohrer, Head of Infrastructure, Environment and Health at the French Embassy.
Farid outlined Egypt’s plans to improve foreign direct investment data and to target specific international companies in priority sectors. He stressed the value of supporting firms already active in Egypt to encourage further inflows.
Chevallier noted growing French business interest in Egypt. The two sides reviewed cooperation opportunities in automotive, aviation, pharmaceuticals and advanced technology. They also discussed preparations for a French Business Forum scheduled for September in Paris and Lyon.
