Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board Secretary Nalini Atul said engineers play a key role in the region's development during the inauguration of a training programme on Friday.
Nalini Atul inaugurated a two-day technical training programme for government engineers from Bidar, Kalaburagi and Yadgir districts at Zest Club near Naganahalli Cross in Kalaburagi. She noted that the government has given special priority to the Kalyana Karnataka region, which has historically lagged behind other parts of the state. Allocations have increased substantially since 2013-14, with nearly ₹5,000 crore released in the last three years and more than ₹24,000 crore utilised over the past five to six years.
Atul said the board has become financially self-reliant and has digitised project approvals, tendering and payments through the e-procurement system. Priority sectors identified include agriculture, industry, textiles, tourism and education, with the board seeking five sector-specific policies, including an industrial policy that has received government approval.
Chief Engineer Subhash Shivashankar of the Public Works Department North-East Zone said effective implementation of new policies for agriculture, industry, education and tourism depends on the technical competence of engineers. The programme was jointly organised by the KKRDB and the North-East Zone of the PWD.
