The Military Manpower Administration launched an English-language chatbot service called Ara on Monday. It aims to provide military service information to those subject to mandatory service who face difficulties communicating in Korean.
The Ara chatbot will provide 24-hour online counseling on military administration matters. These include military service examination, conscription and mobilization training. Those subject to mandatory military service at home and abroad can access the information in English. MMA Commissioner Hong So-young said in a release that the agency will continue to expand digital military administration services. This will allow citizens to conveniently fulfill their military service obligations regardless of where they are. The service targets individuals facing language barriers in Korean while completing mandatory duties.
