Former tight end Eric Ebron said he wishes the Pittsburgh Steelers had drafted him in 2014 instead of the Detroit Lions.
Ebron spoke on former teammate Cam Heyward’s Not Just Football podcast. He praised the organization as the greatest he has been part of and said he would have preferred Pittsburgh as his starting point in the NFL.
The Steelers signed Ebron to a two-year deal in 2020. In his first season he recorded 56 receptions for 558 yards and five touchdowns. His second year was less productive amid injuries and offensive struggles.
Ebron noted the 2020 season occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic, which limited fan attendance. The team finished 12-4 before a playoff loss to the Cleveland Browns.
The 10th overall pick in the 2014 draft, Ebron said he does not fault the Steelers for selecting Ryan Shazier five spots later.
